In this special Kids Week episode of The Deen Show, we meet six-year-old Zafar Nuri, a remarkable young Muslim who has already authored a book and read over 1,400 books. Zafar is the younger brother of Alia, another young author featured on The Deen Show, and together they represent the incredible fruits of Islamic parenting done right. His story is an inspiration for parents everywhere who want to raise children who love knowledge, worship Allah, and aspire to make a difference in the world.
A Six-Year-Old Author and Aspiring Hafiz
Zafar’s book, “Things Every Kid Should Know: Strangers,” teaches children practical safety tips about staying away from strangers and avoiding dangerous situations. But what truly sets this young man apart is his deep love for the Quran. When asked about the story of Prophet Yusuf, peace be upon him, Zafar reveals that he cried while reading about how Yusuf’s brothers threw him into a well and how his father Yaqub, peace be upon him, went blind from grief. This level of emotional connection to the Quran at such a young age is a testament to his parents’ dedication.
“What do you want to be when you grow up? I would like to memorize the Quran, insha’Allah, and I would like to have a rescue organization where I can help people.”
Lessons for Muslim Parents
- Encourage children to read extensively — Zafar has read over 1,400 books and is still counting
- Introduce children to the Quran early and help them connect emotionally with its stories and lessons
- Channel your children’s energy into productive pursuits like writing, memorization, and community service
- A righteous child is one of the greatest investments a parent can make — their good deeds continue benefiting you even after death
“One of the things that stays behind after you die is a righteous child. You will never be at loss if you are educating your children the right way, teaching them how to be the best in acts of worship and a benefit for society and mankind.”
Zafar Nuri is living proof that when Muslim children are raised upon the Quran and the Sunnah, they become beacons of light for their communities. His aspiration to memorize the entire Quran and to serve humanity through a rescue organization reflects the comprehensive nature of Islamic education — worship of Allah combined with service to His creation. Parents are encouraged to take this inspiration and invest in their children’s spiritual and intellectual development, for this is an investment that pays dividends in this life and the next.
