Every form of corruption on this earth — environmental destruction, moral decay, broken families, addiction, and violence — traces back to one root cause: humanity’s disobedience to the Creator who made them. Allah created everything on this planet in perfect balance and order, and He created human beings for one purpose: to worship Him alone. When we abandon that purpose and follow our own desires, the devastating consequences are inescapable.
How Sin Corrupts Everything
Allah tells us in the Quran: “Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of people have earned, that He may give them a taste of some of their deeds, in order that they may turn back from evil” (Quran 30:41). Every time humanity intervenes in Allah’s natural order without divine guidance — from chemical pollution to pharmaceutical side effects to moral corruption — the result is disorder and suffering. The very medicines we take come with warnings of side effects, and the technologies we celebrate often create the problems they were supposed to solve.
“Allah created everything in order and balance. The plants serve the animals, the animals serve human beings, and human beings should serve the One who created them. But instead, man lowered himself and started worshipping what is below him, forgetting the One above him who brought him into being.”
The Devastating Effects of Sin on the Heart and Soul
- Sin weakens the heart — it drains a person of motivation, interest, and energy, making even prayer feel like a burden
- Sin breeds more sin — what begins as a single cigarette leads to marijuana, then harder drugs; one small transgression opens the door to greater ones
- Shaytan never rests — he accompanies every human being from birth until death, constantly trying to lure them away from Allah’s path. Even Imam Ahmad on his deathbed saw Shaytan still trying to claim him
- Sin removes blessings — disobedience to Allah causes loss of provision, health, peace of mind, and the sweetness of faith
“The Shaytan will never leave you — he will be with you until the last minute of your life. But if you stay in the company of Allah through obedience and remembrance, Allah will protect you. Be in the company of Allah, and Allah will be your protection.”
The path to safety from the effects of sin is clear: return to Allah with sincere repentance, guard your prayers, surround yourself with righteous company, and remember that every moment of this life is a test. May Allah protect us, our families, and all of humanity from the traps of Shaytan and guide every sincere heart to the straight path.
