This deeply moving lecture featured on The Deen Show is dedicated to every person who has been abandoned, abused, heartbroken, or left to suffer in silence. The speaker begins with the harrowing true story of a young Muslim sister who was sexually abused by her own uncle from the age of seven. When she finally found the courage to tell her family at age eleven, they dismissed her. She attempted suicide three times, yet each time Allah saved her life. Her story became the catalyst for this powerful message: no matter what you have endured, if you have Allah, you have everything.
This World Is a Test — Even in Luxury and Comfort
Allah tells us in the Quran: “Surely We shall test each and every single one of you with a loss of wealth, a loss of life, and a loss of profit and trade. So give glad tidings to those who are patient — those who, when tested, say: to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.” Tests come in countless forms — abuse, abandonment, the death of loved ones, financial ruin, or simply the daily struggles of life. But each test is an opportunity to draw closer to Allah rather than further away.
“He who has no one has Allah. But I want you to leave with the opposite of this statement: he who has Allah has everything.”
Finding Strength in Your Darkest Moments
- When the Companions lost the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, Abu Bakr reminded the ummah: “Whoever worshipped Muhammad, know that Muhammad has passed away. But whoever worships Allah, know that Allah is ever-living and does not die.”
- Pain and trials are not a sign that Allah has abandoned you — they are the very path through which He draws you closer to Paradise
- Seeking pity from people only deepens the wound; pouring your heart out to Allah is what brings true healing
- Fate rarely calls upon us at a time of our choosing — but our response to it determines whether it becomes a path to Paradise or a path to destruction
“In times of trials and tribulation, you have a decision to make: either you can get closer to Allah and that is your way to Paradise, or you can decide to live with your pain and create your own destruction.”
If you are reading this and you are in pain, know that Allah sees you, knows your suffering, and has not forgotten you. The very fact that you are still alive means He has a purpose for you. Turn to Him in prayer, pour out your grief in sujood, and trust that He is the Most Merciful. No human being can take away your pain the way Allah can. You are never truly alone when the Creator of the heavens and the earth is with you.
